“An Overview of Lithium-Ion Batteries - Types of Cells, Make up of cells, Overview of Failures, Safe Storage and Transportation” will cover the common cell types, components and make up. In addition to common failures found in todays fire scenes. A review of common practices for collection, safe storage and transportation will also be covered in this one(1) hour virtual training opportunity.

  • E. Aaron Miller

    E. Aaron Miller IAAI – C.F.I. Aaron Miller is an IAAI CFI with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University. Aaron has nearly a decade of experience in fire investigation in the private sector. Over that time, Aaron has been involved in lithium-ion battery medium and large scale fire testing as well as safety training for first responders and system operators. Aaron has extensive experience on preparing and presenting emergency response plans and hazard mitigation analysis for lithium ion battery systems.

  • Thomas Bensen

    Thomas Bensen IAAI - C.F.I. Thomas A. Bensen has been involved full-time with fire and safety since 2000, working both in the public and private sectors. Thomas has experience working at the Federal, State and Local levels of public safety in both fire and law enforcement. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Safety Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University. Thomas has nearly ten years of experience working with lithium-ion batteries. Over the ten years, Thomas has worked on the design, testing, failures and codes and standards of lithium-ion batteries. Thomas has instructed lithium-ion battery and alternative energy classes to public safety and owner operators throughout the country for nearly a decade. Thomas also was a founding member of NFPA 855, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Energy Storage Systems.
