Membership at CFITrainer.net Reaches 11,000 Users!

New programs and features are being released in 2007.

With a 65-percent increase in membership over the past year, CFITrainer.net is delivering valuable education and content to fire investigation professionals. Membership at CFITrainer.net currently totals 11,000 registered users.
CFITrainer.net is continuing to develop new programs that will allow fire investigators to advance their knowledge and training in crucial industry-related topics. Version 2.0 of the CFI Calculator will be unveiled this summer and enhancements will be made to the Fire Dynamics Calculations module. Additionally four new modules that will debut in 2007 include: Introduction to Fire Scene Evidence, Documenting the Event, Collection of Non-Traditional Evidence at the Fire Scene and Analytical Thinking for the Fire Investigator.

Two of the latest features added to CFITrainer.net were a promotional video and a links page. The promotional video was created to inform and motivate visitors on the many benefits there are from taking part in the distance learning resource, CFITrainer.net. The mission statement of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) – “to foster, support and promote fire prevention and arson awareness through education and training,” inspired the video. Furthermore, the links page was designed as a resource for fire investigation information from other organizations and agencies.

“We are excited by the strong and steady growth of CFITrainer.net,” said International Association of Arson Investigators’ President, Tom Fee. “The expertise of the IAAI members and our relationships with top experts has been energized by the technology and production of new programs and features. The fire grants program has allowed us the opportunity to make a difference.”

Since CFITrainer.net was launched in 2005, ten programs have been added to aid in the education of fire investigators. CFITrainer.net has issued nearly 9,000 certificates to users who have completed modules and passed the final test. The 9,000 completed modules account for more than 30,700 contact hours of training provided by IAAI through CFITrainer.net The programs currently running on CFITrainer.net are: Fire Dynamics Calculations, Insurance and the Fire Investigator, Investigating Motor Vehicle Fires, Fire Investigator Scene Safety, An Analysis of the Station Nightclub Fire, The Scientific Method for Fire and Explosion Investigation, Digital Photography and the Fire Investigator, Ethics and the Fire Investigator, MagneTek: A Case Study in the Daubert Challenge and Introduction to Fire Dynamics and Modeling.
